Oneida uses defense, dominance on boards to cruise past Oakdale

OAKDALE, Tenn.  |  Two players from Oneida had double-doubles, as Oneida out-slugged region foe Oakdale 66-38 here Tuesday (Dec. 6) in the finale tune-up before the start of district play.

scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, while senior had 11 points and 13 rebounds in his best game of the season, as Oneida pulled away for the lopsided win.

The game was a bit of an offensive struggle for Oneida, which had 19 turnovers and shot just 40% while getting to the free throw line only nine times.

But the Indians made up for it defensively and on the glass. In fact, Oneida limited Oakdale to 27% shooting and out-rebounded the Eagles by a whopping 56-28.

Spradlin and Keeton weren’t the only two players with big rebounding totals. Senior pulled down a season-best 10 boards for Oneida.

Meanwhile, scored 15 points to help his team to the win. Senior had a team-high six assists.

Oneida actually trailed Oakdale after the first quarter, 13-10. But the Indians finally found an offensive rhythm in the second quarter, and went on a 23-9 run to take a double-digit lead to halftime.

The lead continued to grow in the third quarter, and Oneida led 53-29 as the fourth quarter began.

After the strong start, Oakdale shot just 21% and scored only 16 points in the entire second half.
