ONEIDA | No contest.
That was perhaps the easiest way to sum up Oneida’s Region 2-A game against Oakdale at OHS Gymnasium on Monday (Jan. 16).
The Indians jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, scoring at least 20 points in each of the first three periods en route to a 78-40 win over the Eagles.
Oneida shot 53% from the field, including 46% from 3-point range, and was 67% from the free throw line.
Oakdale, on the other hand, shot only 38% from the field and was forced into 26 turnovers by the Indians.
Oneida also had a decisive advantage on the boards, out-rebounding the Eagles 32-19.
It was a night in which many Oneida players saw the floor. Freshman Jesse Zachary came off the bench to score seven points in what might have been the highlight of the second half.
