Track & Field: Henry picks up win at Campbell County

LAFOLLETTE, Tenn.  |  Scott High's picked up a win in the 200-meter dash in the final track meet of the regular season here Tuesday (May 2).

The junior came home first in the 200-meter event at the Cougar Classic, with a time of 25.37 seconds. He was just ahead of his teammate, freshman , who finished with a time of 26.43 seconds.

Other highlights from Tuesday's meet:

• Sharpe recorded a second Top 5 finish in the 100-meter dash, finishing fifth with a time of 13.13 seconds. The event was won by Clinton's Jawan Goins, with a time of 11.8 seconds. Teammate finished sixth, with a time of 13.23 seconds.

finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 21.2 seconds. The event was won by Campbell County's Nathan Kniffen, with a time of 17.05 seconds.

• Scott High's 4×100 meter relay team — consisting of Babb, Henry, and — won its event with a time of 51.05 seconds, more than three seconds ahead of Campbell County. The Highlanders' 4×200 meter relay team also won with a time of 1:45.78, besting Campbell County by better than 10 seconds.

recorded a Top 5 finish in the long jump, finishing third with a distance of 15 feet, six inches. The event was won by Kniffen, with a distance of 17 feet, 8 inches.

• Bowling and both recorded Top 5 finishes in the shot put, finishing third and fourth, respectively. Bowling had a distance of 33 feet, 0.75 inch, while Carroll had a distance of 31 feet, 6.75 inches. The event was won by Clinton's LeState Williams, with a distance of 33 feet, 10 inches.

had a Top 5 finish in the 100-meter dash, finishing third with a time of 14.02 seconds. The event was won by Campbell County's Meagan Ross, with a time of 13.45 seconds.

finished third in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 34.4 seconds. The event was won by Ross with a time of 28.56 seconds.

placed runner-up in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles. In the 100-meter event, she finished with a time of 18.1 seconds, just behind Campbell County's Madison Johnson, who finished in 17.07 seconds. In the 300-meter event, Lantz finished with a time of 1:01.92, while Johnson won again with a time of 55.75 seconds.

• The Highlanders' 4×100 meter relay team — consisting of , Bella Sharp, Henson and Lantz — finished second with a time of 57.6 seconds, behind Campbell County's time of 54.62 seconds.

finished just outside the Top 5 in the shot put, with a distance of 22 feet, 9.5 inches. The event was won by Clinton's Kenzlee Hutchison, with a distance of 30 feet, 10.5 inches. Scott High's Kaylin Shannon also had a Top 10 finish, winding up 10th with a distance of 19 feet, five inches.

• Sexton had a Top 5 finish in the discus, finishing fourth with a distance of 67 feet, eight inches. The event was won by Campbell County's Morae Owens, with a distance of 85 feet, 10 inches. Miller finished ninth in the event, with a distance of 53 feet, 10 inches. Ariel Hutson was also in the Top 10, with a distance of 45 feet, nine inches.

Except for the athletes who have qualified for sectionals, Tuesday's meet concluded the 2023 season.
