JELLICO, Tenn. | For the Lady Highlanders, it was “Hello, win column” on Friday … and in a big way.
Scott High took to the road and defeated Jellico 20-3 in a three-inning game, its first win of the season. The Lady Highlanders put 14 runs on the board in the first inning to seize control, and never looked back. The game was called after just three innings thanks to high school softball's run rule.
The Lady Highlanders made the post of eight hits, taking advantage of six Jellico errors and 11 bases on balls.
Brittany Morrow had a monster game, with five RBIs and two runs scored.
Also having a big game was Kynlie Frogge. The sophomore went two-of-two at the plate, finishing with three RBIs and scoring two more runs.
Senior Sydney Blaker had three RBIs, as well, and also scored a run.
Kaitlyn Butts had two RBIs and scored three runs, while sisters Riley Price and Zoey Price each scored three runs.
A number of other players scored two runs each, including Morgan Hooks, Konner Hutson and Autumn Brummett.
Frogge, Morrow, Butts and Blaker each had extra-base hits in the game.
Hooks got credit for the win, pitching all three innings and giving up three runs while striking out two Jellico batters.
