HUNTSVILLE | Scott High's Clayton Carroll is headed to Union College to continue his football career.
The senior inked a letter of intent with the Barbourville, Ky. school during a signing ceremony at the Scott High School Library on Thursday.
Carroll is a three-sport athlete at Scott High — helping to anchor the Highlanders' defense on the soccer pitch and also participating in track and field — and became a mainstay on the offensive and defensive lines on the football field the past two seasons.
The senior was also a vocal leader on the football team and led the Coonskin Crazies pep club during basketball season.
Carroll is the son of educators Mike and Elizabeth Carroll of Robbins. His father is pastor of Black Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He is the third Highlander senior to sign an athletic LOI this year, following basketball players Brianna Jeffers and Annalyne Woodward.
Union College participates in the NAIA's Appalachian Athletic Conference.
The Bulldogs are coached by Tommy Reid, who has been a part of the Union College coaching staff since 1996.
