WARTBURG, Tenn. | Scott High put 29 points on the board in the first quarter, even by going deep into its bench before the opening period was even finished, and rode that hot start to a 76-51 win over Wartburg here Tuesday.
Grey Todd scored 15 points, and Brady Strunk had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, as the Highlanders cruised to the 25-point win.
With the victory, Scott improved its post-Christmas record to 7-4. The Highlanders are 13-15 overall.
Todd knocked down two 3-pointers and had eight points in the opening period, while Strunk pitched in seven, to help the Highlanders to a 19-point lead after one.
The second quarter saw Wartburg’s Andrew Goode score 16 of his game-high 23 points, as the Bulldogs trimmed the Highlander advantage to 17 points at the intermission. Toby Garrett scored eight of his 12 for Scott High in the second quarter, while Kayleb Woodward added five of his 11.
The third quarter saw Scott go off again, and again it was Todd and Strunk powering the effort. The Highlanders built a 68-39 lead as the final period began.
Scott Jeffers had six assists and five steals for the Highlanders.
