OAKDALE, Tenn. | Kelsey Pike nearly out-scored Oakdale all by herself.
The Oneida senior scored 21 points on a night when Oakdale could muster only 25 points against a stout Lady Indian defensive effort, as Oneida rolled to a 62-25 road win in region play on Tuesday (Dec. 6).
Chloe Hamby had a nice game for Oakdale, finishing with 16 points and six rebounds. But the rest of her team combined for just nine points, shooting 30% and turning the ball over a whopping 27 times.
Oneida has made a habit of forcing teams into turnovers early in the season, and was at it again in Tuesday's game. As a team, the Lady Indians recorded 19 steals. Braelyn Russ and Ali Smith led the way with three steals each.
Smith scored 10 points and was the only other Lady Indian in double-figures. But a total of 11 different players scored for Oneida, on a night where everyone on the roster saw playing time.
Oneida shot 42% for the game, jumping to a 20-point lead in the first quarter and never looking back.
It was a 30-point lead at halftime.
Oakdale scored the game's first bucket, then never led after that. Oneida quickly grabbed the lead and raced out to a 24-4 lead by the time the buzzer sounded at the end of the first quarter.
In addition to her 21 points, Pike had a team-high seven rebounds. As a team, Oneida out-rebounded Oakdale 35-20.
Tuesday's game was the last tune-up for Oneida ahead of the start of region play. The Lady Indians will host Coalfield on Friday.
