ONEIDA | The magic number is one.
The Indians need just one more win — or one more Oliver Springs loss — to clinch the regular season District 3-A championship, after rolling to an 85-53 win over Wartburg at OHS Gymnasium Friday evening.
Grady Keeton scored 19 points, Mason Keeton added 15, and Zeb Spradlin scored 12, as Oneida started hot and put the Bulldogs away early.
Spreadlin also had six rebounds, tying with Ben Gilbert for the team high, and was named the IH Sports Network’s First National Bank Player of the Game.
The Indians were smoking hot from the start, jumping out to a 27-10 lead in the first quarter. Wartburg never led.
The Indians expanded the lead to 50-30 at halftime, shooting 62% from the field for the first half.
Oneida finished with a 52% shooting percentage, while limiting Wartburg to 37%.
The Indians owned a 40 to 25 rebounding advantage, and forced the Bulldogs into 20 turnovers. Meanwhile, Oneida had 21 assists to only 10 turnovers.
Jeric Huling had a team-high three steals.
The Indians led 72-40 going into the fourth quarter, and their biggest lead was 35 points, midway through the final period.
