COALFIELD, Tenn. | Grady Keeton scored a season-high 32 points, on 13 of 21 shooting, and powered Oneida to a 68-54 win here on Tuesday, as the Indians remained unbeaten in District 3-A play.
Keeton, a freshman, also had a team-high four steals and knocked down five 3-pointers. He was named the IHSN’s First National Bank Player of the Game.
His older brother, junior Mason Keeton, finished with a double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Sam Bell was named the Trophy Masters Hustle Award winner, finishing with four boards.
Oneida struggled early, trailing by a point after the first quarter and by six points at halftime.
Coalfield led by as much as eight points early in the third quarter, and then Oneida turned it on. The Indians surged to build a 16-point lead in the waning seconds of the game, at one time out-scoring Coalfield 42-18 during a stretch of the third and fourth quarters.
Coalfield played well despite shooting only 39% from the field and a paltry 40% from the free throw line.
Oneida, meanwhile, was 48% from the field and 62% from the line.
Oneida was out-rebounded by Coalfield, 32 to 29. The Yellow Jackets turned the ball over 16 times, but forced the Indians into 13 turnovers.
Nevertheless, Oneida remains unbeaten in district play, and completed a season sweep of the Yellow Jackets.
