ONEIDA | Not many people would've given Jellico much of a chance of escaping OHS Gymnasium with a win on Friday. And, as it turned out, it would be a dominant night for the Lady Indians.
Oneida defeated the Blue Devils 62-16 on a night when everyone got to play, and the game wasn't even that close. The Lady Indians limited Jellico to two points in the first quarter, then put up 26 points of their own in the second quarter to build a 44-9 halftime lead. After that, everyone played in the second half.
Kelsey Pike scored 12 points and Elli West added 10, but as big a story as anything else was who all got to play. Lydia Kline came off the bench to score eight points, and a total of 13 different players scored for Marv West's Lady Indians.
Oneida shot 36% from the field and 67% from the free throw line, but the most impressive stat line was on the defensive side. The Lady Indians recorded a whopping 29 steals against Jellico, and forced the Blue Devils into 40 turnovers.
Jellico shot just 25% from the field, and 20% from the free throw line.
The Lady Indians led by 35 at halftime and continued to build the lead even with reserves playing in the second half. The lead reached 46 points by the three-minute mark of the fourth quarter.
