SUNBRIGHT | The confines of the ball park at Sunbright were friendly for Oneida on Monday, as the Indians exploded to a 15-0 victory over the homestanding Tigers in the District 4-A series opener.
Caden Rector tripled on three separate occasions, going three of four at the plate and driving in three runs while scoring two more, and Colten Daugherty was dominant on the mound, helping to push the Indians to the shutout win.
The senior pitcher struck out seven and gave up only one hit in five scoreless innings before the game was called due to the run rule.
It was a relatively close game through three innings, but Oneida put 10 runs on the board in the fourth to make it 15-0.
In addition to his performance on the mound, Daugherty had two RBIs and scored two runs for the Indians. Colby Tyra had a big day, as well, with three RBIs and two runs scored on a three of three batting performance. Other players with runs batted in included Todd Derek Ryon, Cameron Kidd and Peyton Smart.
Also scoring runs for the Indians were Todd Ryon, Kidd, Brock Ryon, Aiden Frazier and Gabe Brennan.
